El Nido Day 3 : Papaya Beach, Twin Beach, Marimeg Beach

2:20:00 AM

On our last day at El Nido, we woke up to a very chilly morning at Papaya Beach.

Papaya Beach

The view from Papaya Beach
Most of the island was more forest than beach. But there was a variety of activities you can do. You can play basketball or volleyball or frisbee. No need to to bring your own balls or set up your own nets or basket. They've got it all ready for you on the island.
Welcome humans!
Good morning Papaya Beach
Chilling in a hammock
A hut
the sands are truly powdery
This is the toilet. If you need water (which you probably do), you'll have to get some from the ocean
I never knew Frisbee could be so much fun!
Look  at me go!
Time to get back. Aww...
Our boat guides went back for us in around 11. When we got back to town, we rode a tricycle to our lunch destination, Art Cafe.

Art Cafe

Art Cafe
I am loving the ambiance in this restaurant. I bet this place looks great in the evening. Too bad we didn't get to experience it.
Welcome to the Art Cafe
It seems a lot of foreign tourists visit this place
The bar
I wonder what the music is like here
They have their own travel agency
Pesto
I forgot was this was called but I think it's potatoes
We also shopped for souvenirs at the Art Cafe.
We went shopping for souvenirs
They've got printed mugs
and magnets
After the satisfying meal,we walked back under the scorching sun to Tay Miloy's and got ready for our second to the last item on our El Nido itinerary, Twin Beach.

Twin Beach

It was beautiful! The sky was very clear and so was the water. It was as if someone took a post card and decided to bring it to life. The locals told us we could get a good view from the hilltop nearby. So after walking for a little while, we finally got to the hilltop and this was what we witnessed.
Finally! Twin bea-- wait. Where did all the water go?
Unfortunately, the other side had low tide so we didn't get to take a picturesque photo of the Twin Beach, which sucks because we don't get to be in El Nido, Palawan everyday. Bummer.

We got down from the hilltop
And went for a swim
Underwater cameras ftw!
Had a cup of refreshing avocado shake afterwards
I read SHAKES then I read chicken, shrimps, mussel and I'm like WHAT? This is really bad design
My third avocado shake for this whole trip. I cannot imagine a world without avocados
We got back to the van and drove around 15 minutes to our next destination. He dropped us off by the highway and we walked through a narrow muddy path. And finally we arrived at the last item on our list, Marimeg Beach.

Marimeg Beach

Marimeg Beach
I was disappointed and I can't believe we ended the trip with this. It's okay I guess, but compared to all the beaches and islands we've gone to for the last two days and the fact that it's located in El Nido just makes it really sad. I don't mean to offend anyone who loved this beach. I just didn't really enjoy it as much. I think the highlight of this place is the zip line. Too bad we didn't get to give it a try.
El Nido zip line
There were a lot of foreign tourists
There were a lot of "things" underwater, like dried leaves and stuff. Also, the sand wasn't the white kind.
After a quick last swim, we head back to Tay Miloy's to get ready for the trip back home.

While waiting for our turn, some of the friends and I decided to head out to buy some more souvenirs. I didn't really buy a lot from the Art Cafe because it was pricey. We luckily passed by a restaurant that sold El Nido soup! And being the curious people that we are, we ordered a bowl each.

Skyline Restaurant. Recommended by our boat guide for the last few days
A bowl costs php200. It doesn't really look nor taste different
Dried bird spit costs php500 per pack. Not to mention, a very tiny pack. The kind where sari-sari stores puts candy in.
After the pricey soup, we head back to the inn and found out that we were the only ones left who haven't packed up yet. We did so in a hurry and checked out of Tay Miloy's and had dinner at Squidos.

Seafood curry, anyone?
The trip was nearing it's end. After the meal, we rode a bus to Puerto Princesa. We arrived  in the wee hours of the morning at the terminal and slept in the parked bus until around 6 in the morning. We had breakfast at Philippines' most famous fast food and rode to the airport on a tricycle. Hours later, we found ourselves back in the busy world of Manila. It is back to reality for the all of us.

This El Nido trip is truly an experience to be treasured. Thanks to my good friend, Jhoy, for tagging me along. And thank you El Nido for being such an awesome travel destination! My wanderer of a heart shall miss you dearly.
